About the Food

Meals are high protein, dehydrated, packaged by volunteers, consisting of a rice/soy mixture which also includes dehydrated vegetables, chicken flavoring, salt, and are fortified with 21 essential vitamins.

Each package contains six nutritious servings, at a cost of approximately 15¢ per serving!

The meals are prepared using boiling water, which not only ensures a hot meal, but purifies the water, which may be contaminated.  The fortified rice-soy meals have a shelf life of three to five years, which makes extended storage possible. This allows the meals to be strategically stockpiled for emergency use.
