Last year Rotarians collected $40,000 in donations and packaged 216,000 meals. This year we have' raised out sights and are shooting to collect $45,000 and package 300,000 meals. Can you be a part?
From the March 10, 2011 Biltmore Beacon News"Twenty-five cents buys a meal for somebody who can`t afford one and nine Western North Carolina Rotary clubs, partnering with MANNA FoodBank, will package 216,000 of those meals on April 9, 2011.
The Rotary Clubs need help.
"It takes 900 volunteers to get this done", said Rotarian Bill Bass who has been involved since the start. "We`ll be working three shifts; 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m., 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. sealing food packages six to a box."

The Black Mountain Rotary Club is joining ohter clubs in their district in the "Rotarians Against Hunger" project. The goal of theproject is to raise $40,000 to purchase 216,000 meals for those in need. Seventy percent of the proceeeds will go to Manna Food Bank with the remaining 30 percent going to aide hose in Honduras. Meals are dehydrated and high in protein and nutrition. There are two ways that the community can help.
- Funds may be donated to the project at www.rotariansagainsthunger.org
- Volunteers are needed to help pack the food on April 9, 2011 at Biltmore Square. There are several different time slots available for volunteers on this date.
